Lecturer in German Studies (permanent post) Department of European Languages and Cultures Ref. A041 Salary: £31,671 - £35,646 Closing date: 12 April 2010 Interviews for shortlisted candidates: 6 May 2010 We are looking for an outstanding researcher and teacher to join our innovative and highly-integrated Department. The successful candidate will participate in the Department's research culture and conduct high-level research in any area of modern German Studies, although preference may be given to specialists in an area or areas of twentieth-century German Studies. Their teaching portfolio will include German language teaching as well as non-language modules in German and in comparative, cross-departmental subjects. They will also fulfil relevant administrative duties in the Department. Candidates should have a PhD and be producing research publications at a level appropriate for submission to the REF in 2012; they must in addition have native or near-native speaker proficiency in both English and German. Experience in teaching German at university level to native speakers of English is highly desirable. This post is available from 1 September 2010.
