Herzlich Willkommen auf unserer Website!

The Association of Third-Level Teachers of German in Ireland (founded in 1997) aims to promote the study of the language and cultures of the German-speaking countries of Europe.

Currently there are more than 20 institutions on the island of Ireland offering German as a subject or academic programmes including German at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Association of Third-Level Teachers of German in Ireland provides a forum for lecturers and postgraduate students working in German Studies in Ireland

The Association seeks to support German Studies in Ireland by:

• assisting academic activities such as conferences, workshops and the invitation of guest speakers

• publishing a yearbook: Germanistik in Ireland

• compiling a directory of Germanists working in Ireland

• maintaining this website for the purpose of disseminating information relevant to the profession and of nurturing links within and outside the profession.

Anybody engaged in the teaching of German Studies at third level or in cognate research is welcome to join.
